Day Two of the Asian Games 2026 witnessed an action-packed day for the Indian sports personalities who took part in events such as shooting, MMA, hockey, swimming, kabaddi, table tennis, badminton, and many more. The Indian delegation began the second day of the games after winning two silver medals in shooting. India saw its medal haul rise to six after Day 2, with shooting making a significant contribution and Suchika Tariyal breaking new ground in mixed martial arts.
Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games have seen athletes come from all corners of the continent, with the India contingent raising expectations in several sports disciplines. Shooting medals have been crucial again, but impressive results in hockey, table tennis and other sports have made Indian athletes an exciting group at the Asian Games.
India’s Medal Tally and Key Day 2 Performances
The shooting was again one of the main highlights of India on the second day of the games. The Indian men’s 10m air rifle team consisting of Himanshu Dhillon, Parth Mane and Rudrankksh Patil took part in the medal hunt after India had won two silver medals in shooting on the very first day. The achievements of the shooting discipline in the latest update helped India earn four silver medals and one bronze in the sport.
In mixed martial arts, Suchika Tariyal gave India its first ever medal in MMA at the Asian Games. Tariyal won a bronze medal in the women’s traditional 60kg event. She lost her semi-final match against Singapore’s Hui Hoon Teo due to the draw and got through to the final match due to the lower-weight rule since the semi-final match was in favour of the lower weight participant. In the morning weigh-in, Teo registered a 700-gram lower weight than Tariyal.
Although Suchika had some difficulties with the semi-final, she won India’s first ever MMA medal at the Asian Games. Her bronze medal also brought India’s total medals up to six.
Indian women’s hockey team too put up a strong performance. Having begun the tournament with a 19-0 win over Uzbekistan, the team went on to defeat Indonesia 17-1 in their second Pool B game.
Deepika Sehrawat, Rutuja Dadaso Pisal and Navneet Kaur each found the back of the net three times, while there were contributions from a number of Indian players as well. India’s aggregate goal tally stands at 36 from the first two games.
In the match, there was also a special moment for the Indian goalkeeper Savita Punia who made her 321st senior international appearance and thus became the most capped female hockey player in India. India’s next opponent in Pool B is Thailand.
Asian Games 2026: Other Indian Results and What Comes Next

In the pool, Srihari Nataraj came in tenth place in the men’s 50m backstroke race in 25.52 seconds. The winner was China’s Xu Jiayu, who set a new Asian Games record in 24.04 seconds. India’s quest for an Asian Games medal in swimming thus continues.
India also defeated Japan in men’s team regu sepaktakraw. As per the latest Times of India live update, India came from behind to defeat the Japanese 15-13, 15-7 in the match. In soft tennis, players Jay Meena and Aadhya Tiwari gave a good start to their mixed doubles tournament with a victory against Cambodia.

The weather is also proving to be another concern during these Games. Due to Typhoon Dujuan, the organizers have decided to reschedule the equestrian eventing as they were keeping a check on heavy rains and winds in parts of Japan.
