A vital component of the society that has been advocated in the contemporary world is womens’ right which entails women empowerment. This movement seeks for the women to have the same chances, privileges and rights as the men so that they can be active in all sphere of life. On the other hand, there is still a number of issues, which still poses a challenge and or which still needs constant attention and follow up.

 Historical Context and Progress

Women have been subjected to prejudice and have been denied their rights and equal opportunities throughout history; they were locked in the home and could not work, go to school, or vote. The suffragette movement from the end of the nineteenth century and the start of the twentieth century signified the initial attempts at the recognition of women’s rights and helped get women the right to vote in many parts of the world.

In the middle of the 20th century the second wave of feminism appeared which was based on reproductive rights, workplace gender discrimination and some legal discriminations. Some of the laws such as the Equal Pay Act and the Title IX passed in the United States guided other countries as a benchmark. The Council of the United Nations established the Convention of the Elimination of Discrimination against Women also known as CEDAW in 1979 to act as a frame work for the advancement of women.

 Economic Empowerment

The importance of economic value is a key principle of women’s emancipation that lets them become economically independent and contribute to the economy. Microfinance programmes in almost all the regions of the world have provided women with loans to start income generating activities. Nations such as Bangladesh have shown how micro credit through a financial institution of their fame the Grameen Bank has empowered women and their families able to raise themselves from the trap of poverty.

Yet, people are not equal where the economic aspect is concerned. Women across the world are paid less than their male counterparts for the same job and are found mainly in vulnerable and low-wage positions. Elimination of the pay disparity between men and women as well as equal provision of education and training play a central role in attaining economic parity between the two genders.

Political Empowerment

Politics are a crucial component for women because it lays the foundation of laws that would empower women fully. Rwanda is a typical example as women now occupy more than 60 percent of the country’s national parliament. The representation has resulted in the passing progressive policies on issues of violence against women and women’s rights.

However, the participation of women in leadership posities especially in political setting continues to be low in the global community. : The political campaigning of women is limited by culture, politics, and lack of funds among others. To increase women’s political leadership, it is mandatory to focus on quotas, programs of qualified sponsorship, or women-supportive networks.

 Social and Cultural Empowerment

Social and cultural empower affects the female gender concerning the traditional stereotyping of women in society. Education has a massive role to play in this respect, firstly because with knowledge and skills women can confidently go for their dreams. Campaigns like Malala Yousafzai’s fight for the girl child education have called for a particular focus on the possibility of ensuring that every girl child has been taken through quality education and not limited to a dream, vision or a mere course but a reality.

The cultures that keep provoking such as early marriage and female genital mutilation should be changed, by educating the societies and changing laws. Civil society forums and formations are therefore irreplaceable in transforming societies’ cultures that negatively affect women and girls.

 Technological Empowerment

Availability or control over technology is one of the factors that define empowering attributes in the present era. Most women stand to benefit through education, business and social networking through the internet and mobile related products. Initiatives that support women and girls’ education in ICTs enable the establishment of technological equality and new pathways to emancipation.

However, web environment is not entirely friendly to women. Harassment, bullying, and other forms of digital sexism are the problems that should be solved with the help of strong legal legislation that will allow women to enter the digital world without fear.

Conclusion

In this paper, it was concluded that women empowerment is a complex process that demands comprehensive, integrated pursuits on the economic, political, social, cultural, as well as technological planes. A lot has been done but it is clear that the fight for gender equality is not over and requires constant lobbying for changes in laws and people’s attitudes. Through investing in women and empowering them, societies will be able to actualize half of human beings who were created in the image and likeness of God to better nations, communities, and provinces all over the world.
