The Subhadra Yojana in the State of Odisha has gained yet another milestone where over 1 crore women beneficiaries will receive their fifth instalment of monetary help on August 28, 2026. The payment will be given on Rakhi Purnima with added significance for the day celebrating the bond of affection and care.
As per the latest reports, about 1,03,26,162 women are likely to receive help through the fifth instalment. The State Government plans to provide about ₹5,160 crore directly in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries by way of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The programme for release at the State level is organized in Nayagarh. Over 2.21 lakh women will be getting the benefits for the first time in the fifth instalment.
Subhadra Yojana was introduced in September 2024 as one of the most significant welfare schemes for women in Odisha. According to this scheme, women aged 21 to 60 are eligible to be provided with a monetary benefit of ₹50,000 spread over five years. This benefit will be distributed annually in two installments of ₹5,000 each.
The fifth installment is a continuation of the monetary support which has so far benefited a large number of women. Prior to the latest installment, the amount of ₹20,648 crore has reportedly been distributed among over 1 crore women during the previous four installments. This scheme not only aims at ensuring financial independence but also helps in empowering women in decision-making processes in their houses along with education and other personal matters.
In case of the fifth instalment, the administration of the state and the banking authorities were requested to ensure the smooth execution of the process and minimum inconvenience for the recipients. Pending applications were verified to include the eligible women for the payment procedure. This means that some newly-eligible beneficiaries receive the money for the first time.
Subhadra Yojana’s significance is not only related to financial help. Many women will feel more confident in their ability to meet daily needs and plan their future due to regular financial help. This also reflects the increased attention to women economic involvement and self-reliance in Odisha.
