It was for the first time in Indian political history that a political party has achieved not just a singlehanded third victory but on being a combination of different parties under NDA. That this kind of victory has been registered in a democratic set-up is unique and deserves a place in the historical chronicle of India; more so, when it has unfolded under the leadership of the BJP, which has signified the importance of the coalition’s strategic appeal.

The Road to Victory

This journey to yesterday’s victory has been underpinned by sound governance, strategic political Mileage-Mileage, and people’s advocate. In this period of political instability, hyper-partisanship, a divergent economy, dissimilar ideological presuppositions, and truncated twelve-year term of power, the visions of the BJP, NDA, and Modi within the Indian polity have become immense and historic, jointly they have cleared up an enormous number of issues while striving for transforming the ‘New India’ into a reality.

The key to these successes has been the NDA’s capability to keep the images consistent with the development, nationalism and the reforms that been initiated. The policies undertaken by the coalition government have been targeting to change the civil infrastructure of India, increase economic growth rate and improve the standard of living of citizens. Over the last few years, schemes such as ‘Make in India,’ ‘Digital India,’ ‘Clean India Mission,’ etc. have not only received positive response from the public but also ensured that India becomes identified as an emerging super power.

Strategic Alliances and Outreach

However, the performance of the NDA is credited to the alliances and the outreach programs formulated by this coalition. This has been made possible through the formation of smaller alliances with regional political parties, and mobilisation of the supporters of the coalition parties on the ground through mobilisation of votes due to the strengths of its cadre base. By extending its coverage on this network, the message of the need to vote has been made to reach out to all demographics.

The most significant factor that has remained the coalition’s strength over the years has been its capacity to meet regional dec Lamar aims and the ability to present a unified dominant national political program. Another area that has come as a major plus for the NDA is that the party has well understood and voiced the pain points of the electorate exercising a good balance between national and regional politics.

Leadership and Vision

In my opinion, the main source of the NDA’s success is the energetic and authoritarian leader, namely the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The howling for a progressive and self-reliant India that Modi showcased has appealed to millions of voters. The major factor that helped Modi gain the support of the masses and has been his effectiveness in communicating and his ‘charismatic’ persona.

In the light of Mr Modi at the helm of the NDA, this government is seen as an anti-incumbency force that will work towards building a prosperous India. Of key importance has been the emphasis on good governance and accountability as well as transparency while exercising power; the electorate has placed their trust in the coalition party’s ability to provide the same.

Economic and Social Reforms

The most significant development initiatives undertaken during the NDA regime have been economic and social reforms designed to stimulate development and growth. Reforms like the GST and IBC have been path-breaking, and have eased the complexity within the business landscape and helped enabled stable economic growth.

PMJJBY, PM-SYM & allied programs, PMJBY, Ayushman Bharat & PM Awas Yojana has been instrumental in reinventing the lives of millions of people especially from rural and unprivileged section of the society. All these initiatives have enhanced the quality of lives in these front line states and have further cemented the promise of the NDA government for a balanced and inclusive growth.

The major challenges and prospects for improvement

However, the NDA administration and government and the states in general are faced with a host of challenges as the party prepares to start its third term. The financial situation must be brought back on the right track especially after the COVID-19 pandemic and this has highlighted the need to focus on economic development in addressing problems like unemployment and healthcare needs within the different regions.

It is therefore against this backdrop that the contribution made by this coalition in as far as is’ ability to meet these challenge while at the same time balancing its developmental programme necessary if it has to sustain it political hegemony. Looking into the future, the major concern on the part of NDA will be to further build the resilience of the economy as it seeks to improve social wellbeing and establish the country’s position in the global map.

Conclusion

Primarily, it is the third consecutive electoral triumph of the NDA that revels its permanency and sound economical regulation. It demonstrates the capability of the coalition to convince the electorate base and their sincerity in realizing the vision of India moving forward to a better path. The forthcoming parliament session will see the NDA beginning its term from the parliament and hence the expectation of the nation and global community for unveiling of the political and developmental roadmap of India under the new government.

The longevity of the presented coalition can be considered as evidence of the mechanisms of India’s functioning democracy, where the strong leadership and vision can significantly turn the country’s future.
